Durellia. Durellia is an RPG board designed for the mature adult roleplayer, to give them a board to get away from the children that have taken over what roleplaying used to be. This board is designed for old-school roleplayers. Durellia is a good place for good roleplayers, simply put. Please do not waste your time registering on my board if you do not plan on being active and dedicated in roleplaying.
Parental Advisory; Explicit Content Durellia is a PG-13 to R rated RPG for Language, Blood & Gore, Sexual Content, Fantasy Violence and Drug Use.
PLEASE NOTE!!!: As of January 17th, 2009 there is no longer a "roleplay when you want to" clause. Because our members have become lazy and inactive, all members of Durellia are now required to post at LEAST once a week. The only exception to this rule is if you are on leave, and have posted in the Time Off Request board. Otherwise you are considered active and are expected to post with one of your characters. For those that do not post once a week, you will recieve a 25% warning to each of your character's accounts that must be removed by roleplaying, seperately, with each character. Every week that passes with no roleplaying, your warning goes up. If and when your warning increases to 100%, your characters will be put on a hit list and when we get to them, they will be killed. This is your choice.
Posting Rules:
1. First and foremost, the preferred method of posting here in Durellia is what the kids these days call.. "Power playing". It is allowed.. no, encouraged. If you don't like this, don't even bother joining. Other members will use your characters in their posts if they wish, and will be done respectfully by everyone. I advise all members to read every roleplay and profile before interacting with a character.
1b. I will not tolerate one line posts. If you choose to post in threads, all posts must be at LEAST 50 lines (and I will be counting), though I am a much happier admin when I see detailed, well written posts. Fifty lines is not that much to write and dedicate to a roleplay. There are no exceptions to this rule. All posts after this update breaking this rule will be deleted. You will receive one verbal warning on this subject, and the next time it is done your account will be terminated.
2. All posts are to be written in story format, as opposed to the *does something* format. All posts breaking this rule will be deleted. I also prefer that posts are not written in first person.
Bad Example: Shinichi: "I'm gonna whoop your ass!" *kicks so-and-so in the nuts*
Good Example: I walked into the room and looked around; the paint was lime green from the 70s.
3. I've removed all of the censored words, and I don't mind if you swear. However, I don't want to see posts full of it. It makes your character look like a potty mouthed kindergartner.
4. This game does not run in real time, it can run as fast or as slow as you make it. However, you can still only be one place at once. Your character cant be on an ocean and halfway across the world buying something. Get it? You must travel to everywhere you go. And please, for the Gods sake.. if you’re in a thread with other people, don’t make them wait two weeks for you to reply.
4b. Also, if you leave a thread to go somewhere and come back, but time has not passed in the thread, you must wait for your character to return. You can't leave and say two weeks have passed and then return to a thread where only two days have passed.
5. I cannot stress this rule enough. YOU.. MUST.. TRAVEL. That is why the boards are there. If you don't want to travel, pick a town and stay in it. I mean it, guys.. I'm fuckin' serious. You don't have to cover every step taken, but you can't just leave Sakkar Asfar and show up in Keno in your next post, it doesn't work that way.
6. NO SHORT HAND. I cannot stress this enough. If I see ONE post that says "u" "r" "ur" "wtf" "wtv" or anything else, I will flip. I will not even allow one warning on this rule. If you can't read and follow the rules upon joining you don't deserve a second chance.
7. You MUST use the spell check button, or run your posts through a word processor. The admins will be all over you like ugly on a monkey if you post with terrible spelling and grammar; a spelling mistake is fine here and there because we all do it. But if your posts are written like a first grader, you don't belong here and if you continue to post like that after being warned, your account will be terminated. End of discussion.
8. A clarification for 'sexual content' is needed. Durellia is rated "R", not rated "X". By that, I mean that it is not okay to write out a sex scene.. if it's posted by anyone, including my admins, it will be deleted. Your characters can do whatever they want with one another, we just don't need details.
9. As far as Magic and Abilities go? Not all characters in Durellia are going to have them. All members of Durellia should have at least one realistic character - and by that, I mean a human with no magic or abilities. It's only fair, as no everyone can be all-powerful. If you have a human who has had no formal training by a Mage, they're not going to have magic. If you can't handle controlling an "average joe", don't join.
10. Signatures: Please, for the love of god, lets keep our signatures reasonable, shall we? There’s no need to post a wallpaper sized image in your signature. Several members have photo editors and will help you if you ask for it. I’m going to start PMing members with huge signatures.. it stretches the page and for people with slower internet connections, threads with huge pictures take forever to load. Please be considerate.
11. Last, but certainly not least.. do NOT join Durellia and post advertisements ANYWHERE on my boards. There's an affiliate section.. if you want to affiliate, that's fine.. but no advertising is allowed. Period. Your IP address will be banned without warning upon the first advertisement posted.
Battle Regulations
1. You may not kill a registered character in your fight. (See below for more details)
2. Try to make all fights as two sided as possible. Don't expect to write a one-sided fight and then not get reprocussions.. if you do so, your opponent will be allowed to do the same to you. Treat one as you wish to be treated. At the same time, you must compare stats while fighting to determine who would realistically win.
3. You have one week, and absolutely NO longer, to reply to a challenge or fight in character.
- If you started the fight, and your opponent does not reply in the given time, you will recieve a PM from the Battle Moderator (Vain) with further instructions. In this instance, you may be given the right to kill the character you're fighting. This is the only time you may do so.
- If you're the lazy son-of-a-bitch that hasn't posted? Expect your character to die at the end of the fight. You have no one to blame but yourself, and don't expect someone to feel sorry for you and bring your character back to life.
Profile Rules:
1. Do not.. and I repeat.. DO NOT.. under ANY circumstances, register on my boards with a character from another RPG board or with a character based off of a book, TV, Movie or Game. Creativity is required to survive in Durellia, so please use it or don't join.
2.All characters must be approved by two admins before they can post on the roleplay boards. If you post before your character is approved, I will assume you haven't read the rules and your account will be deleted. On that note, any character with extensive magical powers must be approved by the board administrator (me).
3. You can have as many characters as you'd like, as long as you can keep up with them. Some people are fine with one, others can handle three or more. If you can keep up with three (and by "keep up", I mean "be consistent"), then feel free to do so. However, keep in mind that characters in this RPG WILL die, you are no exception. It is the basic rule of life, everyone dies. If you don't want any of your characters to die, do not join.
The more characters you have, the more options you have to post with. You don't have to post with every character every week, just one of them. But if you don't post at all? ALL of your characters recieve a warning and that warning must be removed seperately.
4. As far as picture bases go? There are no humans allowed. In other words? You can't use porn stars. You can't use Johnny Depp, Hugh Jackman, Alan Rickman, etc. Only anime, animation and drawings are allowed. No nudity can be posted directly on the boards, this is ProBoards policy and I will delete your post if I see it.
5. Money on Durellia is determined by your characters occupation and profile information. From there, you earn money as you post. You must interact with the owner of a shop (if occupied by a member), and can obviously only spend what you have. You gain 25 gold for every roleplay.
6. Hit points are determined in the same manner (by your profile. Not all characters are going to be extremely powerful. Not everyone on Earth is Chuck Norris, right?). When you are attacked, your hit points will decrease accordingly and when your reach zero, your character is dead and your profile will be moved to "The Underworld". You do not receive more total hit points for beating or killing another character; the only way to gain more hit points is by posting. You gain 50 HP for every post you make. You may also earn points and gold in Vain's bi-anual awards for posting consistantly.
6b. After a battle, if you survive, resting and healing naturally (or unnaturally in the case of Vampires) will bring you hit points back up to normal.
7. Inanimate objects CANNOT speak. Your sword can't speak, it can't see, it can't hear. This isn't Beauty and the fucking Beast, okay?
8. Unlike most other RPGs, here, characters CAN die. Now, that doesn't mean you can run around and kill everyone, so try to be realistic. The role of "God" will be played and all fights will be moderated by the God of Death himself, Lord Vain.
The Rule on Magic:
1. Not all characters in Durellia have magic!
2. Unless your character is a Mage, or training to be a Mage, do not give them magic. You're only wasting your time putting it in your profile, and you're wasting my time by telling you to take it out.
3. As far as abilities go? Not all people in Durellia have those, either. All abilities/magic must be thoroughly and logically explained in your profile. Humans are most likely not going to have abilities, so please.. let's try to be a little realistic.
One final rule? Do not make me make a new rule because of something you've done. Everyone else that's made me do it has been moved to the Hall of Shame or has been killed.
